EH531  ANCIENT AND MEDIEVAL CHURCH HISTORY (3) [Fall]

Introduces the main developments in the history of the Christian community by surveying the ancient and medieval periods, with special concentration on Western Europe. Gives attention not only to the significant institutional and political questions, but also to the inner life of the Church: its thought, discipline, and worship.

EH532  REFORMATION AND MODERN CHURCH HISTORY (3) [Spring]

Considers the main developments in the late medieval Church as background for the Reformation era, the major figures in the Protestant Reform and the Catholic Counter-Reformation. Then focuses on the Roman Catholic response to the Enlightenment and secularization in modern society and the development of Catholic world-mission.
