Reflections for November 7th - November 14th

This school year we continue with reflections on our daily readings from the School Sisters of Notre Dame.

Sunday, November 7, 2010
2 Maccabees 7:1-2, 7, 9-14; Psalm 17; 2 Thessalonians 2: 16-3:5; Luke 20:27-38: “Paul insists that we are set free from the law of the ancestors, but that freedom puts even more responsibility on us to let God direct our hearts in love and faithfulness.  Who can measure love and faithfulness?  Ask Jesus to show you any gaps in your love and faithfulness, and then throw yourself on his mercy."  To read these daily reflections, please click here.

Homily Helper
Thirty Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, November 14th
Luke 21:5-19: "...we don't have to wait until death to begin living by the wisdom of the Bible. In our lives there are little worlds ending all the time--the end of childhood, of education, of employment, of strength, etc. The courage and generosity and trust with which we deal with these endings will prepare us for the final ending. FEATURE STORY: WTU Announces Leadership Program for Catholics in Government

clg

As the recent elections unfolded, one point became increasingly clear: many Catholics who have devoted their lives to public service need more information about the Catholic tradition and political issues. To address this, WTU has designed a program, Catholic Leadership in Government (CLG).

This one-year post-graduate faith formation program is for young men and women who are committed to their faith and to the service of the public good through government.  CLG is both theological and practical; it focuses on Catholic thought, teaching and practice.  Participants will be drawn from across the political spectrum: from the House and the Senate, as well as other branches and offices of the US government.  This residential faith formation program provides on-site housing at WTU, monthly educational sessions, and living in intentional community, which includes time for retreat, prayer, and community building.

To learn more, contact CLG's Program Director, Mary J. Novak, J.D. or click here.
